What Whitley Wants Vol. 6

Copy of Copy of WWW Holiday Edition.jpg

We’ve just moved into a new home and while I’ve been ID’ing some amazing summer pieces for clients, my eye is very drawn right now to anything and everything unique for the home. A monkey climing up the wall, holding a light bulb? Oh my goddness, YES! Add a slithering snake wrapped around a guilded gold mirror frame, and you’ve got a full on jungle in the making! You better believe I’ll be hanging both while wearing head to toe electric red please, a la A.W.A.K.E Mode. Here’s the top, and Here’s the skirt! Shop this post to get ALL the deets!

What She Wore: Fairy Girl

Today's What She Wore is so fun and creative, I couldn't help but share with you!  Lydia's creativity and personal style of layering clothing items is all her own.  While layering is an achievable one and a great way to display your own unique style, it is one that when mastered comes by way of both intentional thought and great creativity. This is both A brain AND B brain going on here.  I remember the first time I met Lydia's now husband, Scott.  I said to him "your sweet girlfriend reminds me of a fairy!" And with that, Scott lovingly replied, "that's what I call her."  Love, love.

Layering ensures no one else will have your look.  And let's not forget all those luscious details.

I'm a sucker for a romantic lace blouse, and I do think this one is exquisite!

Truth be told, I've never owned a pair of moccasins.  This pair marries boho + glam just splendidly!  This are the pair Lydia wears.

Shop Free People's full run of lace dresses for the fairy in you!  This black lace mini dress is so gypsy sexy.

Best Yet

I think this is my best editorial work yet.  It is a collective effort... photography, models, location, hair and makeup, clothes, props, weather, etc that make a package complete.  I've always struggled to feel the "styling" is relevant when you are looking at, simply, a $5,000 couture gown on a beautiful model.  I think the credit there should go to the clothing designer. The styling in this photo shoot is much more restrained and clean than my usual expression of art and creativity, but for this particular shoot, I believe it was necessary to let the designer wardrobe do the talking and the models wear the clothes versus the styling itself be at the forefront.
