In The Name Of Love

Nothing but love for all here… and rainbow, confetti hearts, unicorns and stars! I know what you are thinking. It may not be a reality to actually live in that aforementioned world that I do in my head, but I make every effort to do so. I believe in possessing a mindset of abundance and try to exercise understanding or gain it in all things, especially those in which I have none.

I ask questions to gain perspective and want to live a life of compassion for all. I believe in law of attraction, and I think you attract what you are. I older I get I realize I want to surround myself as much as humanly possible with kind, loving, positive people and those who bring joy and ease. Sure, that may not be reality in every day life, but I believe you can have a more peaceful one by exercising a loving mindset and by surrounding yourself with others who do the same!

What to Wear: Sadie Hawkins

It is officially Sadie Hawkins season for Charlotte area public and private schools!  And with that, my super chic, cooler than cool intern Lauren has curated some perfect head-to-toe (sans spray tan) outfits for the upcoming Sadies dances!  Feast your eyes on our one-stop shop... From the edgy gal to the simple girl, and at all price points, we've got you covered.

Up first, Lauren's personal favorite; this yellow-patterned (unbelievably accessible in price) dress paired with AMAZING Chloé platform heels and your choice of gold earring.

The one earring trend is offically back on the block.  Reach for Whitley's pick, this celestially fun moon and stars pair

Self Portrait always packs a fan-favorite punch.

This Alice Mccall dream goes well with pearls and silver, elegant, yet trendy sandals.  You might even let your mom (Whitley) borrow it.

Into something a little different?  A slip dress... (think Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy wedding or Gwynth Patrow in that Calvin Klein long silver dress) like this black slip dress can be styled edgy-cool with a killer red metallic moto jacket, Tory Burch bandana choker, and monochrome booties

HATS

I'm still totally hat obsessed and also with scarves worn upon the crown.  I was as a child, in college, and I am today.  They are the perfect finishing touch to elevate any outfit.

If you can't see the images below, click HERE to see all my favorites currently on the market.  I am, in particular, I want to add this wide flat brim fedora as well as the Eugenia Kim Cat Ears and these Playboy Bunny Ears.

I use them in photo shoots all the time too.  Do you wear hats?  If so, what's your favorite style?

Gift Guide Of The Very Best Coats Ever

Today's Gift Guide is inspired by a client who is on the market for a great cool coat.  It is very easy to just buy any coat, or wear your Columbia ski parka circa 1992.  If there is one thing I believe the value in investing in, it's a fantastic statement coat.  Don't go cheap here. Just like a great handbag or amazing pair of stilettos, invest.  Buy one amazing, awesome, eye catching, head turning, drool inducing coat, and wear it for your entire adulthood. I have a couple in my rotation.  My two favorites are my Pendleton classic plaid handed down from my Grandmother, and my vintage tweed floor length coat, every single inch lined with beaver fur with the perfect collar that I snagged for $150 at a NYC Upper East Side consignment store. It's the way fur should be done, on the inside to keep you warm. Statement making, one of a kind and mine all mine.

Alexander McQueen Copied Me

When the above image from Shopbop's awesome Lookbook of the day came through yesterday, I immediately thought of my Grandmother's classic Pendleton Tartan Plaid Coat.  I love how the Shopbop editors styled the Alexander McQueen swing to showcase their look of Sophisticated Prep. Just goes to show you classics never go out of style.  Check out our original shoot here.

Shopbop is one of my absolute favorite on line shopping hubs, and if they say it's so, well it's so. Looks like tartan plaid is in for Fall!  Shop a few of my favorites below.

Head To Toe, Hold The Middle

My mother-in-law wore this outfit for her first date with my father-in-law at a pool party in August of 1971.  As you can image, with her long legs, barely there midi and the cutest smile under the sun, for my father-in-law, the rest was history!  Knowing my obsession with one of a kind fashion, Mary pulled this precious two piece out for me several years ago.  I've worn it a couple of times, and it really does make the most fun pool party outfit I could imagine wearing.  In all honesty, it is this photo shoot that lit the fire under me to get cranking on the abs.  Breeze is da bomb! More to come there. In the meantime, I've pulled a few matching crop top and bottoms for your next pool party.  Ladies, trust me on this one...

Dress You Up

I was just thinking about, for a night out, what I might like to wear.  Always it is a dress, and always, always it is with heels.  I carry my phone, ID and debit card.  Nothing else.  I prefer a dress with pockets, because I like to be hands free.  I have so much responsibility in my life (who doesn't?) so when I go out, I really want to be responsible for as little as possible.  Or nothing. Not sure how many of these dresses make the no-pocket cut, but otherwise I love 'em.
