Fall Trends 2017

Fall '17 Trend: Plaid

This week's Fall '17 Trend takes place in the shape of a design which takes place in the name of Plaid.  The last few seasons in trends have showcased this horizontal overlaps vertical striped design.  Last year we saw it popping up on the fashion pages most prominently to the tune of 70's groovy.  This year, plaid takes center stage in a more classic, subdued form, showing up in pant suits, business appropriate skirts, blazers and more.  Think Diane Keaton cool with a splash of Faye Dunaway circa Bonnie & Clyde. Here are some of my current favs...

I, myself, tend to prefer the plaids on a bolder scale but with so many great versions out there, there is no shortage of something for everyone.

I have been eyeing this prairie style dress for about six months.

It is really hard to believe you can get this much style in a coat for under $50!!

I've got my eye on two innocent school girl meets flirty fun dresses.  Should it be the plaid jumper, or the large scale cute meets sexy with the ruffle sleeve?

There is never a shortage of great plaid options from J.Crew.  Plus they show you how easy it is to wear plaid on plaid (on plaid on plaid).

Fall '17 Trend: Red

Red is the "IT" color for Fall '17.  Fire engine, cherry, tomato, blood or burgundy, take your pick! Not just limited to threads for your clothes, wear it on your feet, your ears, your nails, lay your head upon this color of love all season long.  Shop all my favorites in every shade of red, or click HERE if you are unable to see the below images.

Red feathery fun disco ball earrings?  Yes, please!

These red leather gloves are the perfect pop of color accessory, and the price too!

This long military style coat is on my list.  Olivia Palermo x Banana Republic.  Girl can do no wrong.

This jeweled clutch is so cute.  It could seriously be Dolce & Gabbana, but it's Topshop.

THE cutest little ruffly, frilly red lace dress.  Hot date alert!

Step fancy in this red bootie, red on the top and red on the bottom, or try this accessibly priced version

Fall '17 Trend: At The Disco

If there is one thing I love it is a sequin.  I mean I LOVE glam.  My Grandmother had this most amazing 1980's silver puff sleeve blouse that I put on every time I went to visit her as a child, as a teenager, as a college student.  I have it now and while I don't wear it nearly often enough, it is one of my favorite tops.

I was thrilled to open the September fashion issue of my InStyle Magazine and see a Disco feature with more lurex, metallic and sequins that I knew how to manage.  I'm doing my best to get it out of my system, sharing with you is one form of coping with all the glitzy excitement. I'll just pretend I'm Lily Aldridge cool on the couch like this...

In the meantime, paired with a leather fringe skirt, I recently enjoyed wearing my new vintage House of Landor Butterfly Disco top to see Liz Hilliard give a fantastic talk and fashion show at Neiman Marcus.

If I could I would LIVE in a Halpern mini or jumpsuit.  I realize Charlotte is not Vegas or Miami but I'd be perfectly happy wearing them to the market.

For just a hint of sequin, this Attico drawstring pouch is sleek and jazzy.  I'll take it in head to toe in the form of a dress.

This Cynthia Rowley sequin striped tee would be perfect paired with distressed denim and a sassy pair of pumps.

The perfect little red swishy disco dress.
