Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale: Now Is The Time

Hello Friends!  It's a great day for sale shopping.  In fact, it's going to continue to be great for the next two weeks because Nordstrom started their Half-Yearly Sale today, which will run through June 4th!  During the sale, you can take up to 40% off on purchases across all categories.

In particular, I am loving everything DVF.  Last year Diane von Furstenberg hired a new creative director.  It's the first time in the history of her iconic brand that she's hired someone other than herself to be in charge across the board.  I could see the change in the designs while at the same time feeling these clothes are SOOOO good.  I'm always drawn to some fab pattern mixing, as witnessed in this outfit from one of my earlier days of fashion blogging.  I think I need to get back on it!

Better late, late, late than never, NODA is the last neighborhood featured in our Fall Fashion Street Style photo shoot for Southpark Magazine.  When browsing Neiman Marcus to pull items for the shoot I knew I had to have the DVF coat.  A stunner on it's own, I found it a perfect pair with my own Opening Ceremony button front dress.  It's hard to see it, but I found the colors perfectly comparing and the pattern a perfect contrast, topped off with a chunky layering of Twine + Twig necklaces by my sister designer friends Elizabeth and Jacqueline and grounded by one of my favorite chunky sandals by Coclico. 

My Favorite DVF For Fall

I've long been a lover of Diane von Furstenberg and all her great fashion designs.  She is a designer, style icon and philanthropist.  Arguably most well known for her epochal wrap dress created in 1974, the dress went on to sooner after boast her notoriety to that of "the most marketable woman since Coco Chanel."  Interestingly, I did not own my first very own DVF wrap dress until last year!  Just like with all my fashion choices, I hold out for JUST the right one.  I went with the one pictured below because the pattern invigorates me and encourages me not to hide from success but to shine bright and be a super star!

I remember seeing one at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC the first time after Ms. Furstenberg relaunched her company in 1997 with the dress that started it all.  Shop my current (and SALE) DVF items below, and if you are unable to see the images, click on the title of the blog post to shop to your heart's content.

I Wore Self Portrait

I recently attended the Carolina's 75 Most Stylish event hosted by Carolina STYLE Magazine.  It was so flattering to be included on their chosen list of most stylish, and boy was I in good company.

Roxy Owens, Richard Petty (let's just be honest, with his signature hat, belt buckle and dark sunglasses, the man is a style setter!), Liz and Clary Hilliard, Linda Martinez, sisters Elizabeth and Jacquelyn of Twine & Twig to name a few.  

I decided the event would be the perfect place to wear this little jumper by Self Portrait.  As you can see in the picture below, when they called my name first to come have my picture taken, I had no idea what to do before the camera in a sea of people standing and watching. When in doubt jazz hands and say cheese!
